HYNDBURN MP Sara Britcliffe has been given a further step up the government ladder.
In February she became Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the junior ministerial team at the Department for Education.
Now Miss Britcliffe has been given the same unpaid job to education secretary Nadhim Zahawi who replaced Gavin Williamson in the Cabinet post in last week's ministerial reshuffle
Elected in December 2019 in place of Labour’s Graham Jones, she is the youngest Conservative MP, and ran a bakery in Oswaldtwistle between graduating with a languages degree and going to Westminster.
Her new role will see her supporting Mr Zahawi in the House of Commons chamber and acting as is ‘eyes and ears’ among colleagues at Westminster.
Miss Britcliffe said: "Education has always been a priority for me so I'm thrilled to become the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State.
"This government has been clear that a focus on education is key to the levelling up agenda and building back better after the pandemic."
