A driver with no licence tested positive for drugs after police caught him travelling at more than 100mph on the M61.
Officers spotted the motorist driving at eye-watering speeds while undertaking several vehicles on the southbound carriageway late on Monday night.
Patrols pulled the vehicle over and upon investigation, found the driver did not have a licence and also tested positive for drugs.
He was arrested and detained.
A spokesperson for the police said: "Vehicle sighted in excess of 100mph on the M61 southbound undertaking vehicles.
"When stopped driver was found to be a non-licence holder and provided a positive specimen on the drug wipe.
"Driver now lodging with us."
