In our weekly Looking Back supplement we recently featured a series of photographs of Penny Street in Blackburn which generated a lot of interest.
Several readers asked if we had a picture of Gray’s Corner at the junction with Old Chapel Street.
Well, here it is, taken in 1963 showing the gents outfitters on the left.
In the background you can see the distinctive tower of St John’s Church. At the end of the block on the left is the Regent pub which would be replaced by the new Regent pub when these buildings were demolished to make way for the three-day market
