An entrepreneur has launched an online food delivery service for local grocers and halal butchers.

Delicart serves customers in Nelson, Brierfield, Burnley and Blackburn and is hoping to expand the service in the region.

Shoppers can visit the website www.delicart.co.uk and place their order from their chosen store partnered with Delicart. The products are then prepared and delivered to their home within 45 minutes.

Mohammad Shoaib, a registered Dietitian for the NHS founded the firm six months ago with just two drivers. He said: “I realised during the pandemic there was a lack of on demand grocery delivery service and getting halal meat with doorstep delivery was difficult.

“The pandemic created a sharp rise in online grocery shopping and I felt a real need for a online delivery service. This is when the idea came about for Delicart.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

Delicart has partnered with a number of local stores Al-Karam Halal Meat Centre and Global Foods Nelson, specifically halal meat shops and Asian grocers. The company is hoping to expand into other areas with more stores joining their platform.

Shoaib said: "We want to connect shoppers to their favourite stores and allow shoppers to order in a few simple steps. The best thing for customers is they'll get their order within 45 minutes.

“The response has been fantastic amongst the community. Our typical users have been working individuals, business owners, young couples, busy families, those without transport and the elderly. We also deliver to other businesses and social services."
