A NEW smash burger and pizza takeaway is soon to open in East Lancashire.

Don Pablo’s will be housed in the former Eddy’s Chicken on Union Road, Oswaldtwistle and manager, Sajad Ali, is promising an authentic taste of America with his pressed beef patties.

Due to open next month, the takeaway will be offering around 15-20 different varieties of pizza, signature piri piri chicken meals, as well as various types of smash burger – a beef patty pressed or smashed onto a hot griddle, topped with caramelised onions and melted cheese.

Mr Ali, a chef of more than 20 years, who has experience working in venues across Barcelona, said he’s excited to be bringing what he believes to be the first smash burger venue to East Lancashire.

He said: “I hope that it will bring something new to Oswaldtwistle and people will enjoy it.

“Lots of places claim to sell smash burgers but ours will be authentic and totally different to anything you can find in this part of the county.

“The smash burger comes from America and is traditionally served with caramelised onions and cheese on top.”

Don Pablo’s will be taking orders through Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats, but Mr Ali said he will be keen for people to order through the venue’s website.

The establishment is undergoing a refurb, and Mr Ali has drafted in Darwen graffiti artist, Keiron ‘Curly’ Whitehead to bring the interiors to life.

Curly has painted a Don Pablo mural on one of the inside walls and a huge pizza on another - but with the grand opening not planned until October, there’s still a way to go before all the finishing touches are made.

Mr Ali continued: “We haven’t got an exact date for opening but if all goes well we’d like to open a branch in Blackburn, then maybe one in Clitheroe and Preston.”
