A seaside town in Lancashire has been ranked as one of the best places in the UK to buy a coastal holiday home.

Buying a holiday home is becoming an increasingly popular choice for those looking to enjoy what UK staycations have to offer, and with 2020 teaching us that we have much on offer right on our doorstep, seaside hotspots are looking like the preferred choice.

Lytham St Annes on the Fylde coast came in third place in a brand new study by Parkdean Resorts, which revealed the top 10 UK destinations to buy a seaside holiday home.

By analysing a range of key factors, researchers at Parkdean were able to come up with a list of perfect locations for a sun-drenched holiday home.

Utilising data from Numbeo and Gov.uk, Parkdean analysed 64 UK seaside resorts to reveal the UK’s top 10 seaside holiday home spots.

Each resort has been ranked on five factors: the average house price; population of over 65 year-olds; quality of healthcare; most popular locations; ONS happiness score

Lytham St Annes returned a Seaside Holiday Home Index score of 172.

Here's what Parkdean had to say about the seaside resort: "Lytham St Annes offers a great social life for holidaymakers with locals scoring their happiness at an average of 7.44/10.

"Lytham St Annes also scored as the most affordable place to buy a holiday home, with the average house price standing at £147,244."

The Welsh city of Swansea ranks as the best seaside town to buy a holiday home, with a Seaside Holiday Home Index score of 179, while Plymouth came in at second place with a score of 173.
