A MAN who ran an “errand” for his drug dealer ended up with a cannabis supply conviction against his name.

Blackburn magistrates heard Jordan Paul Daly was seen by police to lean into a car and complete some kind of transaction.

He later admitted handing over a bag of cannabis in return for £50.

But Jonathan Taylor, defending, said the money was handed over to another man who had asked Daly to "pop outside” and do him a favour by completing the deal.

Daly, 29, of Manchester Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis. He was remanded on bail until October 14 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said police had received information about drug dealing and were keeping observations close to Wittlewood Drive, Accrington. A car pulled up and the window was wound down before Daly emerged from the rear of a house and approached the car.

“They suspected a drug deal had taken place and stopped the male in the car who confirmed he had just paid £50 for a bag of cannabis,” said Mr Robinson.

He said Daly returned to the house and when police entered they found cannabis with a street value of about £10,000 and large amounts of cash.

“There is no evidence the defendant was involved in anything other than this one deal,” said Mr Robinson.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client had no previous conviction.

“He fully accepts his involvement in this incident,” said Mr Taylor.

He said Daly had gone to the home of a man he had known for a long time to buy some cannabis.

While the man was packaging his purchase he received a phone call and said there was someone outside would Daly go and “drop them that.”

“Very foolishly he took a £50 bag of cannabis, handed it to the man in the car in return for £50 which he handed over to his friend in the house,” said Mr Taylor. “He really was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He did a favour for someone and he was not going to make anything from it.”
