A DISCARDED pop can cost a man his driving licence.
Blackburn magistrates heard police saw Stuart Michael Burke throw the empty can under his car.
They spoke to him, asked him to pick it up and then let him go on his way.
But when he "kangarooed" his car as he set off the officers decided to have another word and this time smelled alcohol.
Burke, 55, of Edleston Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, while disqualified and without insurance. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report and made subject to an interim ban.
Graeme Parkinson, defending, said Burke was doing a favour by delivering some food to somebody in Church.
"He threw a can under his car and that attracted the attention of the police," said Mr Parkinson. "Initially they let him go on his way but he forgot to take the handbrake off and the police had another word. He clearly has alcohol issues as well as a number of health issues."
