Nigel Haworth has announced a delay to the highly-anticipated grand opening of The Three Fishes pub and restaurant.

The Mitton pub was initially scheduled to open towards the end of October but Nigel had to deliver the blow to fans that the opening date has to be pushed to November.

Haworth made the announcement yesterday (7 September) over on his Instagram page and said "delivery issues" were behind the delay.

Mr Haworth said: “We have had to change our projected opening dates to early November as we are waiting for some additional materials for the build which have been delayed by two weeks.

“I know there are a lot of people who wanted to book for the end of October, but everyone involved is working at 100% capacity to get everything ready to welcome you as soon as possible.”

However, a lot of progress has been made on the building with Nigel adding that it is "changing very rapidly".

Nigel posted an update video detailing the progress builders have made on the pub in the last few months.

He said: “Big changes have been made again this time, but it’s the first video I’ve shared where it really does look like a true building site.

“Outside we’ve sand-blasted and removed any render that needed to come off, there’s also been lots of external drainage work and finally more prep work for the landscaping.

“Inside we have beautiful sliding doors in the private dining room, electrical wiring being connected, some painted ceilings, plinths in the kitchen ready for the units.”

In the video, Nigel described the area as a “bit of a bomb site” but added that the landscaping and general shape of the building is beginning to show.

Taking viewers to the exterior patio side, Nigel explained that workers are “finishing the drains off” and getting the back kitchen area “sorted out”.

He added that “the whole place is a serious building site”.

Heading inside, he added that “the sliding doors are on”; these doors will be used to separate the private dining area.

He said: “The guys are doing the last of the ‘fixings’ of the electrical wiring in the kitchen."

He also showed us the “immense” electricity board that will power the whole of the pub.

A few weeks ago, the back area of the kitchen was a mess and needed a lot of TLC.

Nigel explains that it has been “completely cleared out now”.

He added: “It’s all wired up – the ceiling has been repainted.

“We’re about three weeks away from installing the new kitchen in here.”

“We’re still quite a way off… but it is changing very rapidly.”
