Super heroes and villains descended on an East Lancashire town at the weekend.

On Saturday, Darwen Rotary organised a family fun day in Darwen Market Square.

The event saw hundreds of families enjoying the glorious weather while getting to browse the various arts and craft stalls, fun fair attractions and food outlets.

There was also a Punch and Judy show, a magic act, and music from vocalist Riki Lee and Darwen Brass Band.

The highlight of the day though was the super heroes and villains fancy dress competition, which saw Storm Troopers circulating the crowds and was judged by none other than Captain America.

Rotary member Roy Chatburn said: "It was great weather and crowds of local people attended to see the brass band in action and young fans with the Storm Troopers."
