Residents and motorists are being asked to find alternative routes after emergency services were forced to close a main road.
On Saturday afternoon, police closed Burnley Road in Colne due to flooding.
It is believed a water mains burst on Burnley Road close to the junction for the Asda supermarket and is flooding the highway.
There have also been reports that a sink hole has appeared in the road, but this has not yet been confirmed by the emergency services.
Some households are also thought to be without water.
A spokesperson for the police said: "Please be advised that Burnley Road in Colne is currently closed due to flooding, as such we are asking people to find an alternative route and to avoid the area whilst it is being dealt with."
