A CHARITY shop has opened a new section offering cut-price wedding attire for budget-conscious brides-to-be.
The Sue Ryder shop on King Street, Blackburn, has opened its second floor with wedding dresses, suits and prom dresses with items ranging from as little as £5.
It is the first Sue Ryder shop recognised as an events shop, with any prom dresses and wedding dresses that are donated to any branch being sent to Blackburn.
Store manager, Louise Parkinson said: “It was my idea to set it up here because we are a deprived area.
“Most of the wedding shops have either shut down or are too expensive for people in Blackburn to afford.”
The shop has already kitted out an entire bridal party and sorted another woman a wedding dress.
Although the shop has not had an official opening, Louise said that lots of people are asking to go upstairs and are amazed when they see what the shop has to offer.
Louise added: “It’s great - when people come in they always say ‘wow’.
“Some of the gowns are just stunning.
“It’s nice being able to get these kinds of dresses in for people cheaper.
“They are donated by people for free so we can sell them for much cheaper than shops.”
