THIS imposing building was one of East Lancashire’s most popular venues in the 1960s.

Taken in 1964, the photo shows the recently-converted Star Cinema which had become the Starlight Club, complete with neon sign.

The club would host some big name variety performers and entertainers including Lonnie Donegan, Acker Bilk and Tommy Cooper. It was also a casino for a time before changes to the gambling laws.

In the Seventies, the club on Plane Street, Little Harwood, once again became a cinema and as the Unit Four was one of the first multi-screen cinemas in East Lancashire.
