This aerial photograph gives us an unusual view across part of Blackburn town centre around 1988.

It was taken to show the newly-completed Morrison’s supermarket - the large white roof stands out in the centre of the picture - which had been constructed on the site of the former Lancashire Evening Telegraph building and Dutton’s Brewery.

The markings for the large rooftop care park stand out clearly. You can see the station to the right with the Boulevard in front of it and with the canal heading off to Eanam Wharf at the top of the photo. The curved roof of the market can be seen on the left hand side of the picture with the Larkhill flats, top left.
