IT might look like a new bungalow albeit with rather small windows but in 1980 when this picture was taken Hyndburn Council was unveiling the latest public toilets in the borough.
The single-storey block was situated on Blackburn Road at Clayton-le-Moors just down from the former Load of Mischief traffic lights.
The toilets had separate entrances at either end of the building for the men’s and women’s toilets.
This picture got us thinking about public conveniences around East Lancashire. Do you have any photos of some of the public toilets in which you used to be able to ‘spend a penny’? If you do, we’d love to share them with Looking Back readers.
