Lancashire is home to some seriously gorgeous properties- but not all of them can be purchased on the average wage.

Some areas of the county are more expensive than others and the average price paid for a house can be sky-high.

Using Zoopla’s (property website) Zed-Index, we have tracked down the average price paid for a house in 23 Lancashire areas.

This average is calculated using sold house price data and the average price paid for a property.

According to the data, Ormskirk in West Lancashire has the highest average house price; the figure current sits at £295,208.

Some of the pricier streets in Ormskirk include Back Lane where the average price paid for a house is £745,000, and Capilano Park where the average price paid for a property is £570,000.

Not far behind Ormskirk is Carnforth where the average house price is £281,774.

Clitheroe is in third place, with an average house price of £281,533.

There are some very pricey streets in Clitheroe, including Abbey Road where the average price paid for a house is an eye-watering £474,000.

However, not every Lancashire area is quite as expensive.

The Zed-Index figures show that Nelson is currently the cheapest Lancashire area to buy a house right now.

The average price paid for a house is £116,338- which is over £73,000 cheaper than the Lancashire average.

Some streets have a very low average property price, including Alexander Street where the average price paid is just £97,500.

The average price paid on Bank Street, Brierfield sits at just £51,500.

Accrington also had a low average at £123,758; some of Accrington’s cheaper streets include Albert Street in Oswaldtwistle (£57,000) and Arthur Street in Clayton Le Moors (£54,000).

Blackburn ranked 16th in the listing and the average price paid for a house in the last 12 months is £155,998.

However, this is still over £33,000 cheaper than the average Lancashire house price.
