BOSSES at our latest pub of the week caused a stir with an April Fools Day prank by putting a new signage outside dedicated to a former Burnley manager.

The Lancashire Telegraph reported about the new Bees Knees in Burnley and how signs called ‘The Royal Coyle’ with an image of Owen Coyle were being put up outside the Turf Hotel

Later that day they were removed.

So we have spoken to Philip James from Bees Knees about how it feels to be running the pub.

Give us some history about the pub:

We have spent about £90k with the refurbishment of the pub and has been open for two months. The reaction from the public has been excellent with people saying it looks great. We are trying to spread a positive mood about the pub.

Is food served? Is so what’s on the menu? No

Is there a beer garden?

Yep, we have refurbished the outside to make sure there is a bit of a place to sit with some sounds and lighting. It is proving to be popular with people especially during the summer and in the good weather.

Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams?

We have a pool team and nine people have been signed up to play.

Most popular drink served is: Morretti and Fosters are two of the most popular drinks we have at the minute.

Most memorable moment at the pub? Having Elvis last Sunday or Turf Fest the Sunday before

Do you have an entertainment line-up?

We have got karaoke on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday then on Sunday we have got local singers and tribute acts.

Have you faced any challenges within the industry?

We have been trying to create a positive image of the pub as we opened just after COVID.

The best thing about running a pub is?

It has to be the regulars and it is just good to see people being able to enjoy themselves again
