A man in his 30s was taken to hospital after a garden fire in Nelson.

The fire service, an air ambulance and the ambulance service were called just after 6pm yesterday (August 3) to a house on Woodside Terrace, Nelson, after a fire broke out in the garden.

Firefighters gave one casualty first aid and he was taken to hospital by the ambulance service with 'fire related injuries'.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "At 6.08pm on August 3, two fire engines from Nelson and Burnley attended an incident on Woodside Terrace, Nelson. The fire affected the rear garden of a terraced property.

"Firefighters administered first aid to one casualty, who was later conveyed to hospital. Crews were detained for one hour."

The air ambulance has confirmed that they were called and attended however the ambulance service took the patient to hospital.
