Hundreds of musicians will be performing over the coming months as Ribble Valley Jazz & Blues summer and autumn programme returns following a two-year absence.

Post Covid, organisers say they are pulling out all the stops to showcase a programme of jazz designed ‘to meet the needs and interests of local bands’.

The shows will cover a five-month timespan from August to December and will begin with the return of the Sunday Afternoon Dinner Jazz sessions at Sawley’s Spread Eagle Inn.

The Mark Lewis Trio starts the programme on Sunday afternoon August 22 with band leader, Ed Lomax introducing special guests Wilf Nuttall and Lyn Fairbanks.

The band had earlier kicked off the return of public jazz events in Ribble Valley at Dunscar Golf Club on August 1.

Subsequent monthly Sunday afternoon jazz events at the Spread Eagle will feature The Arthur Geldard Quartet, Eric Ainsworth Trio, The Staccatos which includes three members of the BBC’s Northern Philharmonic Orchestra, and Preston’s gypsy jazz band, ‘Shades of Django’.
