THEY may be approximately 66 million years old but dinosaurs are still going strong.

And tapping into this fascination that never seems to skip a generation is Dino Kingdom, being held in Wythenshawe Park until August 15.

The outdoor exhibition sees dozens of life-size dinosaur models dotted around the park, from the 18-metre apatosaurus to everyone’s favourite baddie – the tyrannosaurus rex.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Some of them move and roar, much to the delight of mini explorers and all provide the perfect backdrop for family snaps.

From the team behind the award-winning light and lantern festival Lightopia, Dino Kingdom is a larger-than-life display of these fascinating reptiles.

Visitors are encouraged to download an app and scan a QR code at each dinosaur to reveal more information. At risk of sound pre-historic myself, I think an old-fashioned sign with fun facts at each would have been more informative and less of a faff.

The display itself is a bit of a walk from the car park but we enjoyed strolling through the lovely surroundings, although buggies are recommended for little legs.

Lancashire Telegraph:

There are a few other activities to entertain children such as fossil digging in a sandpit and a walk-through fossil tunnel.

There’s also a funfair but rides are not included and cost £3 a go. Food and drink stalls aplenty are on offer to keep you fuelled but there’s also the option to bring a picnic should you wish.

My three-year-old son is already asking when we can go back to see the dinosaurs so it’s a gigantic Jurassic thumbs up – or should that be claws up – from him.
