Police are appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage after a man in his 60s was threatened with a knife.

The incident happened at about 1am on Friday on Miller Road, close to Glades Care Home in Preston.

A man approached the victim and threatened him with a knife demanding that he hand over money.

The victim explained that he didn’t have his wallet on him and the offender ran off empty handed down a path in the direction of New Hall Lane.

A spokesperson for the police said: "The offender is described as in his 30s, around 5ft 7in tall, stocky build wearing a dark coloured winter style coat with a hood and a face covering.

"Detectives are carrying out a number of enquiries including looking at CCTV in a bid to identify the offender, but they are also appealing for the public’s help."
