BURY Council will host a pop-up session this afternoon to help with bereavement after a woman died of severe burns last week.

Police were called just after 7.30pm on July 23 to reports a woman had been badly burned at an address on East Street in Bury.

Emergency services attended, and found a 31-year-old woman had suffered severe burns, and was taken to hospital. Despite emergency staff's best efforts, she died a short time later.

Three men aged 34, 24 and 26 have been arrested in connection with the incident, and have been released pending further investigation.

Between 1pm and 4pm today (July 30), residents can attend a pop-up "help at hand" session at the back of the Mosses Centre.

A Bury Council statement read: "After the tragic incident last week, community representatives including East Ward Councillors will be available this afternoon (July 30) for a pop-up help at hand session if you would like to talk or need additional support.

"The pop-up help will be on Back East Street at the back of the Mosses Centre between 1pm and 5pm.

"You can also access a Greater Manchester support line by calling 0161 200 1950 with language services available. This is available weekdays 8am to 8pm, Saturdays 9am to 5pm. Outside of these hours a Victim Support line is available by calling 0808 1689 111."

Greater Manchester Police, alongside fire investigators are now working to establish the circumstances around what happened.

Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Clegg from the major incidents team, said: "This is a truly devastating incident, in which a woman has tragically lost her life.

"I would like to reassure the public that we believe this is an isolated incident, and there will be an increased emergency services presence in the area as we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding this death.
