On Thursday, a spokesperson for the council said: "Excitement is in the air this afternoon as the stage is set up in the town centre, ready for tomorrow's amazing 'Welcome Back to Blackburn' event."

Alongside the shows, the aim is to showcase local talented musicians and groups.

Blackburn town centre BID Manager, Catherine Price, said: “As Blackburn town centre shows the green shoots of recovery after being faced by such tight restrictions we are delighted to be able to host this Covid-secure event.

Lancashire Telegraph:

“The Welcome Back to Blackburn summer shows follow on from the success of the Blackburn Drive-In show in August 2020.

"We have once again joined forces with Pop Up Entertainment to provide an amazing event that everyone can enjoy for free.”
