A group of friends who walked 75km have raised over £3000 for a Colne sports charity.

Steve Clamp, Aaron Harrison, Paul Clamp and Andy Haworth took part in the gruelling challenge in conjunction with company Graham & Brown.

This year sees the 75th anniversary of Graham & Brown and they have pledged to try to raise £75,000 for various charities across their business.

The friends walked from Colne across East Lancashire and then back to Cone again - the equivalent to 46.6 miles - to raise funds for the Philip Wright Crown Green Bowling Academy.

Philip Wright was a much-loved young man from Colne, who had a passion for Crown Green Bowls.

In recent years, the academy has worked closely with the Stroke Association, East Lancashire NHS and volunteer groups, rehabilitation groups and numerous local community associations, to promote a healthy lifestyle - both physical and mental.  Steve told us: “We completed the walk in just over 13 hours and 30 minutes. We are very tired and sore by the end, but we made it.

“We’re just waiting on the final total for donations but we’ve definitely raised in excess of £3,000. this is great as our original target was £2,000.”
