A HIGH school has taken to social media following growing concerns that parents are buying their children the wrong tie for next term.
Pupils starting Mount Carmel High, Accrington, in September will be required to wear a yellow tie with green accents along with a star and stripe design.
However, the school has been informed that some parents and guardians have been recently sold a blue Year 7 tie from nearby Whittaker's Schoolwear, which is incorrect.
A spokesperson for the school said: "Pupils starting Year 7 in September will wear a tie with bright green stripes and stars, this will be 'your tie' until you leave in Year 11.
"We understand some people have been sold a blue tie Year 7 from Whittaker’s Schoolwear. That is not the right colour. Please return it and ask them to replace it with the bright green tie.
"Other year groups wear different colour ties which they keep until they leave in Year 11. Our school uniform is also available from Abbey Street Shopping Centre where they are able to sort out all your uniform requirements."
A spokesperson for the recommended Abbey Street Shopping Centre said: "We have plenty of new Year 7 ties and we are also fully stocked up on Mount Carmel High uniform."
A Whittaker's Schoolwear spokesman said: "So long as they've got a receipt they can return the ties in exchange for the correct one, of course. All the staff are aware of the problem now and if those who have been sold the wrong tie want to return it for the correct one, they are welcome to do so now with no problems."
