POLICE appealing for information about a robbery at a Bargain Booze store have identified a man they wish to speak with.

On Tuesday, officers appealed to identify a man following the incident at the off-licence on Whalley Road, Accrington, shortly after 6.30pm on May 4.

During the robbery a man threatened a member of staff with a screwdriver and demanded they opened the till, before escaping with a quantity of cash.

CCTV footage released by police showed a man they wanted to speak with walking along Westwood Street shortly after the robbery.

Police followed a number of enquires to trace the man and have now managed to identify him.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We have identified the man in the footage and will be speaking to him in due course.

"Thank you to everyone who shared out appeal."

Earlier on Tuesday, DC Paul Haworth said: “This was a distressing incident which left those involved very shaken.

"We have since reviewed CCTV of the entire area round the shop and offices are making a number of enquires."
