Taken in 1965 this photo gives an unusual view over Blackburn market’s rooftop car park.
The newly-created shops on Penny Street are in the foreground and towards the top of the picture you can see Ainsworth Street with the Refuge Assurance building on the corner.
The glimpse of white roof you can see on the extreme top left is the roof of the Odeon Cinema. The photo was most likely taken from the newly-constructed Thwaites Tower
