A MAN burst into his 86-year-old grandma's house demanding money for drugs despite a restraining which prohibited him from having any contact with her.

Blackburn magistrates heard the offence put Simon Raith in breach of a suspended prison sentence imposed by the Crown Court two months earlier.

Raith, 31, of Lion Street, Church, pleaded guilty to breach of a restraining order. He was sent in custody to Burnley Crown Court to be sentenced.

Laura Peers, prosecuting, said the restraining order had been imposed in May and prohibited Raith from having any contact with his grandma or entering the street in Accrington where she lives.

On Tuesday she was at home watching TV at about 6.30pm when he came into her living room having let himself in.

He was shouting and screaming and demanding money to buy drugs. She wanted him removed and one of her sons called the police.

"She didn't want make a formal statement to the police because she is 86 years old and feels attending court would have a detrimental affect on her health," said Miss Peers.

"She thought the restraining order imposed in May would have kept him away from her house."

Zabair Afzal, defending, said his client said he had been asking for money to buy food rather than drugs.

"He has a reliance on drugs but he wants to change and he wants help," said Mr Afzal.

"He does accept that he shouldn't have been at his grandma's address."
