Ashton on Mersey delivered a dominant performance to record an impressive win over promotion-chasing Haslington at The Beets in Cheshire County Cricket League Division Two.

Openers Akash Patel and Dave Patterson posted a 50 partnership to lay the foundations for what followed with skipper James Marshall then making a fluent 50.

Miraj Patel was also in sparkling form as the opposition wilted in the field, making 82 at better than a run-a-ball as Ashton posted 248-7.

In reply Haslington found themselves in trouble as Ashton seamer Zohaib Khan took the first four wickets to reduce them to 76-4.

The lower order could then not cope with the pace and movement of captain Marshall who ripped through the batting order to take 4-31.

Spinner Dave Corps rounded off the innings with the final two wickets as Ashton completed a 110-run victory.

Ashton second team backed up the first team success with a 10-wicket win against Cheadle Hulme, Noman Ghous taking 8-24.

The Ashton Women could not make it a clean sweep of wins, going down to Stockport Georgians by 82 runs.

Sale’s focus was on the third XI in the Sunday Premier League as they took on Stockport Georgians at Dane Road.

A back and forth first innings saw the Georgians rally to post 199-6 in 45 overs, Tom Riley taking 4-36 including the wicket of Saj Hussain for 51.

Sale made the worst possible start after the break, quickly finding themselves on 10-2.

Asad Khan and Ian Habershon steadied the ship however, adding 106 for the third wicket. Khan was first to go for 69 off 75 balls and skipper Habershon was then then joined by Inshaf Deen who added a brisk 33.

When Habershon was finally dismissed for 70 Sale only needed four more runs, which they duly knocked off with nine balls to spare.

The win moved Sale to the top of the Premier Division, albeit having played a game more than their nearest rivals.

Sale fourth XI enjoyed a close game against Trafford Metrovics 3s, losing by three runs.
