Lancashire schools are nearly out for summer and many people will be turning their attention to holidays.

While some travellers will be getting ready to jet off to countries on the green and amber lists, plenty are choosing to staycation too.

Research show that domestic searches for accommodation are on the rise, with many opting to play it safe and holiday on UK shores.

From mid-June to mid-July 2021, - the online marketplace with the world’s largest selection of holiday rentals - saw a month on month search increase of 84% for summer accommodation in the United Kingdom.

Using the data, HomeToGo has uncovered the UK’s top trending seaside towns to travel in summer 2021.

These locations, from the Isles of Scilly to the Scottish countryside, have seen the greatest month on month increases in interest during the run up to the big school break.

The quaint coastal town of Deal in Kent takes centre stage for summer 2021, with a staggering search increase of over one thousand percent.

It's followed by Barry in Glamorgan - one of five Welsh resorts to make the top 15.

Rounding off the top three is the picturesque Wells-next-the-Sea in the Norfolk Coast AONB.

Further down, the Cornwall resort of Falmouth made the list seeing an increase of 175 per cent.

However, two Lancashire towns have also made the top 15 list.

Cleveleys, which is situated on the Fylde coast, came fifth on the list with searches seeing an increase of 345 per cent.

It is described on the Visit Lancashire website as a “bustling, traditional seaside resort” with a range of popular shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy.

It also boasts picture perfect views of the sea across the Irish sea and miles of golden sands and exhilarating walks along a multi award winning promenade.

Further down the list at is the humble town of Morecambe where searches increased by 156 per cent.

While here, you can stroll along Morecambe’s award winning promenade with an ice cream before heading down to the beach for a spot of sandcastle making or kite flying.

Another notable monument in this seaside town is the Eric Morecambe statue.
