We’re looking down on the centre of Darwen in this aerial photo taken in 1984. On the left of the picture you can see the hexagonal market building with the car park next to it.
The dome of library is shining bright in the middle of the photo. Towards the top of the photo you can see the columned entrance to Darwen leisure centre which still stands today although the leisure centre itself has been completely rebuilt
