A MAN carried out a "revenge" attack by throwing a brick at another man's car and then using it to smash windows in his house.

Blackburn magistrates heard Peter Forster carried out the attack because he felt the other man was interfering in his life.

Forster, 40, of Stafford Street, Walsall, pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal damage. He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 20 days' rehabilitation and nine-month drug rehabilitation requirement. He was ordered to pay £500 compensation and fined £15.

Jade Coleman, prosecuting, said witnesses saw Forster walking along Blackburn Road, Darwen, at 3.50pm in an agitated state. He picked up a brick and threw it at a Nissan Juke three times, causing damage to the windscreen.

"He then picked up the same brick and threw it at the window of a house shattering two panes of glass," said Miss Coleman.

"It seems the owner of the car and the property is known to the defendant.

"He said he had known him for about 10 years and what he had done was an act of revenge because he felt the other man had been interfering in his life."

Joe Rawlings, defending, said his client felt the aggrieved had been trying to control him and there had been heated exchanges between them.

"He was on the phone to the aggrieved having an argument and in a fit of temper he picked up the brick and caused the damage," said Mr Rawlings.

"He struggles to control his emotions and there is a history of this kind of behaviour although nothing recent."
