The Soccerdome in Blackburn will welcome adult footballers to the venue for the first time since the Covid pandemic began.

Earlier this year, Power League who managed the Soccerdome off Haslingden Road, announced they would be closing. In June, a new long-term lease was signed by the owners of Street Soccer in Batley who said they were delighted to re-opening the pitches.

During Covid restrictions and lockdowns no adults were permitted to play indoors at any venue.

One pitch has been re-laid with new artificial turf and new LED lighting has been installed.

Liam Walker, who was manager at the Soccerdome before it closed, said footballers had been waiting a long time to return to indoor football

He told us: “We have not had any adult football here since March 23. It has been a long time.“We were able to open for juniors games in the winter for a few months but that has been it. There has been a lot of interest already and we are looking forward to welcome players back.”

We have had some bookings from teams for this week.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

Hourly charges during peak hours will remain at £60 and off-peak charges will be £50. The peak period is from 5pm until 9pm weekdays. Weekends are all classed as off-peak.

Liam said: “We have the Accrington District Junior Football League and the East Lancs Football Association returning which is great news.”

“The popular football leagues are also set to resume in the coming month with games played on Mondays, Thursdays and Sunday. Entry for Monday and Thursday leagues is £30 and the Sunday league will cost teams only £22.50.”

The Trampoline centre Flip Out is run separately and has been taking bookings as normal since Covid restrictions were eased.

We can also reveal that a new restaurant is set to open in the bar area adjacent to the Soccer Dome entrance. Shakey’s Sports Lounge is presently being re-fitted and owners hope to welcome diners in during August.
