A popular pub has had to close after a member of staff has tested positive for Covid-19.

The Spread Eagle at Mellor has had to inform customers that they will be closed until July 21 due to a positive case from one of the team members.

The pub will remain closed for a deep clean while all the staff members will be tested.

Writing on their social media, pub staff said: “We are sorry to let you down and are working hard to get in touch with all customers booked in to inform them of the circumstances.”

The pub have asked that anyone who has a weekend booking with them to cancel their table on the online link if they are able to, but will be calling bookings to inform them that the restaurant will be closed.

They added: “Once again we apologise for any inconvenience caused, we were looking forward to seeing you as much as you were to visiting us but we will see you again soon.”

The pub has been contacted for further comment.
