Eight people have been taken to court and fined in the last two months for failing to provide information to the police after they were allegedly caught speeding on East Lancashire's roads.
Out of the hundreds of people caught exceeding the speed limits across the region since May 1, only a handful of those failed to provide information relating to the identification of the driver of the vehicle when required to do so.
And out of that handful, just eight were fined for that offence, with all of them either receiving points on their licence or being disqualified from driving.
It must be noted that the offences of speeding in all eight cases were withdrawn.
The names of the eight people who failed to provide information when required are:
1. Michael Graham, 54, of Cleveland Street, Colne
On September 9 2020, Graham was caught speeding on Vivary Way near Crown Way.
On November 10, having been required by or on behalf of the Chief Officer of Police for Lancashire, he failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of the vehicle.
He was summonsed to appear in court on June 4, and while the speeding offence was withdrawn, he was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months and his licence endorsed.
He was also ordered to pay a total of £816 including court costs.
2. David Ashworth, 33, of Princess Street, Nelson
On December 5, Ashworth was caught speeding on the M65 near Accrington between junctions seven and eight, but on February 8 of this year, when he was required to provide details relating to the identification of the driver, he failed to do so.
He was summonsed to appear in court on June 14, and while the speeding offence was withdrawn his driving record was endorsed with six points.
He was also ordered to pay a total of £816 including court costs.
3. Marius Laurentiu Constantin, 39, of Holinshead Place, Swindon
On October 6 last year, Constantin was caught speeding in a Porsche on Vivary Way close to Crown Way in Colne.
However, on November 11, when he was required to provide details of who was driving the Porsche, he failed to give that information.
On Thursday June 24 he was summonsed to court. Despite the speeding offence being withdrawn, he was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for one year (the disqualification was obligatory due to repeat offending), and his driving record was endorsed with six penalty points.
He was also ordered to pay a total of £816 including court costs.
4. Lee Turner, 31, of Woodhouse Road, Keighley
On November 11 2020 Turner was clocked exceeding the speed limit in a Mercedes on Vivary Way near Crown Way in Colne.
He failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of that vehicle when required to do so by the police in February, and on May 19 was summonsed to court.
While the offence of speeding was withdrawn, Turner's driving record was endorsed with six points and he was order to pay a total of £816 including court costs.
5. Alex Miciescu, 25 of Daisy Street, Bolton
On November 3 2020, Miciescue was caught speeding in Colne in a BMW on the A6068 Vivary Way near Crown Way.
While the speeding offence was withdrawn, he failed to provide information to the police in relation to the driver of the BMW when requested to on December 24.
He was summonsed to court in May and ordered to pay a fine of £816 including costs, and had his licence endorsed with six points.
6. Andrew Steven Trickett, 49 of, Cuerdale Lane, Preston
On November 11 2020 he was caught speeding on the M65 between junctions seven and eight and failed to provide driver details and information to the police when requested on December 17.
He was summonsed to court in May and while the speeding offence was withdrawn, he ordered to pay a fine of £816 including costs, and had his licence endorsed with six points.
7. Abdul Majeed Tabassam, 40, of Upton Park, Slough, Berkshire
On August 17 2020 was caught speeding on the M65 but failed to provide driver details and information to the police when requested on January 20 this year.
He was summonsed to court in May and while the speeding offence was withdrawn, he ordered to pay a fine of £816 including costs, and had his licence endorsed with six points.
8. Benjamin Daniel Dunkley, 35of Poplar Avenue, Great Harwood
On August 29 2020 he was caught speeding on the M65 between junctions seven and eight.
He was summonsed to court in May and while the speeding offence was withdrawn, he ordered to pay a fine of £816 including costs, and was disqualified from driving for six months due to repeat offending, after failing to provide the police with driver details when requested on November 4.
