Would you ever move out of your home town?

A new study has revealed some of the UK's sought after locations to live- as homeowners simply don’t want to sell up.

Across Lancashire as a whole, house sale enquires are down nine per cent with ‘selling a second home’ and ‘upsizing’ listed as the most common reasons for those that do want to sell.

However, some specific Lancashire areas have seen a much larger decrease than this.

In particular, research by We Buy Any Home has found that two Lancashire destinations have seen a decrease in the number of homeowners wanting to sell.

After comparing 2020’s and 2021’s  house sale enquiries, the UK’s leading home buying company found that Lancashire’s Ribble Valley is the place to move to if you are looking for your forever home as it saw the biggest decrease in homeowners wanting to sell.

When comparing 2020’s data to this years, data shows that house sale enquiries from homeowners living there dropped by 53.

Fylde ranked ninth in the list with house sale enquiries down 40 per cent compared to 2020.

Other UK destinations also topped the list, including South Hams in Devon (-50%) and Gedling in Nottinghamshire (-46%).

The location seeing the most homeowners looking to uproot is the Gloucestershire town of Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire seeing a 1100% rise- this is the biggest year on year increase in house sale enquiries (2020 vs 2021).

Cambridge follows with the 2nd most significant hike in enquiries (up 375% YOY), whilst Broxtowe, Nottinghamshire has seen the third biggest increase of 309%.

Looking further down England’s list of top 10 highest peaks in house sale enquiries, 4 of London’s 33 boroughs feature, proving just how many Londoners the pandemic has driven to cashing in on the London ‘pad’ and move away from the capital.
