FOLLOWING a sell-out success story a market hall will see specialist stalls popping up every Saturday.

The trial event last weekend saw one trader sell out of baked treats within an hour.

Now Hyndburn Council will be welcoming small businesses and start-ups to take up spots inside Accrington's historic Market Hall every Saturday for £20 a stall.

The event saw stalls including bath bombs and cosmetics, personalised gifts, homeware and baked goods from existing traders and eateries inside the market hall.

Manager Sameena King said: “We are really pleased with the success of our first pop-up stall weekend and can confirm we will be running this every Saturday inside Accrington Market.

"It has been a pleasure to give small businesses and start-ups the opportunity to test their product and the feedback from shoppers has been wonderful.

"We are on the lookout for unique small businesses, craft stalls and street food traders to join our community of stall holders.”

Mia Beardsworth, 21, who lives in Accrington, sold out of her baked treats by 10am on Saturday after people rushed to the market at opening time.

The Wetherspoons kitchen worker started baking alongside her psychology degree earlier in the year and is excited about the future of her start-up enterprise.

She said: “I started Mia Jade Bakes in April 2021 after spending months baking in my spare time.

"Last week was my first time selling on a stall and I was so shocked to sell out within the hour. It was great fun and I am grateful to everyone who came along to support my small business.

“After such a great first event I have signed up to lots more Saturdays at Accrington Market and this Saturday I will be bringing triple the amount of treats! I can’t wait to see what my future holds for me at Accrington Market.”

Mia Jade Bakes’ products include cookie sandwiches, blondies, brownies and cake jars.

Miss Beardsworth bakes all her items personally from her home and also creates bespoke birthday cakes.
