POLICE attention was drawn to an Audi and a VW Golf which they believed were racing late at night.
Blackburn magistrates heard the Golf disappeared when the Audi stopped at a red traffic light and when the officer spoke to the driver he could smell cannabis.
Nathan Smith, 27, of Manor Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving while over the specified limit for cannabis. He was fined £120 with £85 costs and £95 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 12 months.
Richard Prew, defending, said his client did not know the other driver and there were no charges arising from the manner of his client's driving.
"He had used cannabis some time before the incident but he wasn't aware how long it stayed in the system," said Mr Prew.
