ASDA’S new Blackburn-based owners have begun reshaping the supermarket’s top team by recruiting a leading takeaway executive.

Meghan Farren has now been appointed as Asda’s new chief customer officer having previously worked as KFC’s chief marketing officer since 2016.

According to the Retail Gazette, she will start in her new role in October and is likely to be one of several appointment made by the Issa brothers since their £6.8billion takeover of the chain was confirmed last month.

Ms Farren said: “I am beyond thrilled to join the team leading Asda into its next chapter.

“It is a real privilege to lead the customer team of such an iconic British brand that not only has such a rich heritage but also deep roots in its communities and a place in the heart of most British households.

“I am looking forward to a big challenge and the chance to do epic things with a wonderful group of people.”

The new chief customer officer will be responsible for overseeing the development and strategy of Asda’s customer proposition, marketing and management of brands, and will lead a team of more than 250 staff at central offices in Leeds and Lutterworth.

Along with Ms Farrer’s appointment, the leadership team at Asda looks to be further reshaped with chief executive Roger Burnley having revealed he will leave the company early next year and with chief financial officer Rob McWilliam set to be replaced by his deputy John Fallon.

Mr Burnley said: “Meg brings a wealth of experience to this role from her time at KFC and her combination of creative instinct and experience, customer-centric approach and track record in leading high-performing teams will be a great addition to Asda as we take the next exciting step forward on our journey.”
