WE have decided to venture a bit further afield today to put the spotlight on a local pub.

This week we are featuring the landlord at The Park View in Burnley which is a stonesthrow from Turf Moor

Landlord/landlady name:

Mike Daubney

How long have you been the landlord/landlady for?

I’ve been the proud manager of The Park View for 10 months now, it’s flown by!

Bar staff and their names:

We work together as a team of 11 here at The Park View. I manage the team, supported by my two supervisors, Sammy and Kirsty and our invaluable bar team members Hannah, Cerys, Robbie, Alisha, Joanne, Callum, Luke and Jodie.

Give us some history about the pub:

The Park View is one of the most historic buildings in Burnley! Originally built less than 20 years after the original Turf Moor, it now stands proudly on Higgin Street. The early noughties saw it as home to The Lounge but following their closure and a massive £110k investment from Blind Tiger Inns, Burnley saw the relaunch of newly refurbished Park View!

Is food served? If so, what’s on the menu?

On a day to day basis we don’t serve food, but we do work with some amazing outdoor caterers that we bring in for our events and for big match days. We also have plenty of tasty bar snacks for you!

Is there a beer garden?

We’ve got an amazing outdoor space at The Park View, our beer garden is second to none with the best view in Burnley! We show all of the football on our outdoor screens, and our marquee provides shelter from the good old unpredictable northern weather! We’ve got you covered.

Most popular drink served is?

Moretti is most definitely a firm favourite with our customers, along with Fosters and of course John Smith’s. Whatever it is you’re looking for, from our Gin Trees to Cask Club every Monday, there really is something for everyone here.

Most memorable moment at the pub?

Re-opening after lockdown in April of this year will always be memorable! Being able to open our doors and welcome our customers, old and new – really was the best feeling ever!

Have you faced any challenges within the industry?

I think it’s safe to say that every pub manager have faced challenges over the last year and a half, but as a team and with the support of Blind Tiger Inns we’ve risen to those challenges and overcome every obstacle that’s been thrown at us.

The best thing about running a pub is?

There’s nothing better than seeing the fruits of your labour. Managing a pub is anything but easy, but when you look out over the bar and see all of your customers enjoying themselves – it’s definitely worth all of that hard work.
