A POPULAR butcher shop in Oswaldtwistle is sharing its renovation journey after deciding to move.

Ye Olde Sausage Shop has been based at Oswaldtwistle Mills for 15 years- but the pandemic caused the owners to rethink their business needs and requirements.

Jessica Leliuga, who co-owns the business along with Martin Teese, said: “During Covid lockdown, we were forced to close the shop and move our business online.

“Our business has changed and progressed over the course of the pandemic, our online service has soared so we feel that now is the right decision to move with that change.

“We will be more flexible with opening days/hours at our own shop and we feel this is the best option going forward to support both our business and personal lives.

“The business has now changed and we need to adapt with it.”

They will be moving out of the business at the end of July.

The new shop is a the former Balcony Brides bridal studio on Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, BB5 3HS.

According to Jessica, there is “much more space and storage” in the new building, which they hope to have renovated by mid-August.

The business itself is also having a shake-up and benefit from a “much more modern look” as right now they are a “very traditional looking butcher”.

Jessica also added that they want the new business to be a “food experience” with a wider variety of food for sale, such as jams and chutneys.

She explained: “We have always been tied to what we sell- we are hoping to branch out a bit and sell ‘deli-style’ items that will compliment the meat.”

Posting to Facebook, the team at Ye Olde Sausage Shop shared a snap of the shop before renovations begin.

“It's in really good condition (it's this sandy kind of colour) and it seems such a shame to throw it away, if you know of anyone who wants it please let me know and I can send measurements etc!”
