Police have delighted school children by teaching them a number of England chants and filming it for social media ahead of tonight's Euro 2020 final with Italy.

Officers from Chorley attended All Saints Primary School in the town to deliver an important message for the kids for this weekend - Football is Coming Home!

A video posted on Chorley police's Facebook page shows Sgt Harrison banging a drum in time with a few England chants to get the children in the mood for tonight's big game.

The pupils from year six had learned the lyrics, 'meat pie, sausage roll, come on England give us a goal', as well as the words to Three Lions (Football's Coming Home).

Lancashire Telegraph:

The video shows excited children wearing England shirts, waving flags and jumping around as Sgt Harrison leads the performance.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Chorley police and All Saints Primary School Year 6 class bring you this important message for the weekend.

"Please enjoy your weekend, stay safe, be sensible and enjoy the history that is going to be made.

"All Saints Primary - Sgt Harrison apologises for the broken drum.

"The performance of your superstars took his breath away.

"Please send the bill to Chief Inspector Baines @ Chorley Police station.

"And to Chorley, our nation and the lads at Wembley. IT'S COMING HOME!!!!!"

The video and the performance were praised by people on social media, with one user commenting: "Chorley Police, this is how you gain respect from the younger generations, keep it up, you're doing a great job."

While another said: "Fantastic. Love what Chorley police do in the community always lightening the mood and being part of the community. Well done to All Saints year 6 also."

And another parent commented: "And Chorley Police - you're entirely to blame for the fact my son now wants a megaphone, because, apparantly, his singing was so much better when he used yours yesterday - cheers for that."
