COMEDIAN Tez Ilyas has made his own Love Island debut in the form of a gecko in an ad before the show.

In a series of clips for Just Eat’s ad for Love Island on ITV, Tez from Blackburn voices a gecko who is having conversations with another gecko about food and love.

During a clip, it seems the gecko called Gaz played by Tez loves onion bhajis.

In the first clip another gecko asks who his first love is, to which he replies: “What a question, does that onion bhaji count?”

There are four clips in total and were partially filmed in a studio in London and another in Blackburn at Esche Haus.

Tez said: “It was really fun and different to the normal filming I usually do, you’re just in a studio saying the same lines over and over again until they’re happy with it.

“I just thought it was a bit of fun and I know Love Island is popular. It’s one of the biggest shows here outside sport.

“Obviously, I’m not going to go on it, so this is my way of being involved.”

The Blackburn comedian is getting ready for his upcoming tour in September and his Blackburn show is due in December.

He said: “I’m excited because it’s been a long pandemic lockdown and we are now coming out of it, so I am hopeful some normality will return.

“I am looking forward to giving people something to look forward with friends and couples.”

“It’s my career so of course I can’t wait to get into my work.”

Tez was chosen to be the best fit for the ad as Just Eat bosses loved his comedic style.

The ad plays just before Love Island plays every night and can also be viewed on YouTube.
