A popular East Lancashire car boot sale is coming back later this month after being closed for more than 18 months.

Winfields Car Boot in Rossendale announced their return on social media earlier this week- and it sparked a huge reaction on social media.

In a Facebook post they wrote: “BIG NEWS! It’s back..... The first Winfields Carboot Sale of 2021 will start on the 18th July.”

At the time of writing, the post has received more than 198 interactions and 234 overwhelmingly positive comments.

One person commented: “Thanks for the update! It’s a great charity boot sale to support. Brilliant news.”

Kirsty Forster said: “I can’t wait!”

Another woman tagged her friend in the post and wrote: “It’s back!”

John Rowe, who runs the car boot, said he is “excited” about the prospect of reopening after more than a year and a half of closure.

He said: “We kept it closed while lockdown was on- and we feel now is a good time to restart it now things are starting to get back to normal.

“There are around 3000 people on our Facebook page who have missed it and are desperate for us to reopen it.”

After ‘Freedom Day’ when all lockdown restrictions are eased, Mr Rowe said some stall holders and customers may decide to wear a mask but it is not something they will enforce.

According to Mr Rowe, there are a “vast array” of items up for grabs at the car boot and “something for everyone” at the 150 plus stalls.

Sellers will also be contributing to a good cause as proceeds from seller fees are donated to different charities throughout the year.

If you’re feeling peckish while bargain hunting, there will also be a burger and ice cream van on site.

When is the car boot back and where is it?

The car boot is back every Sunday from 18 July.

However, each Sunday opening is weather permitting so keep an eye on their Facebook page to see if it gets cancelled.

Entry for customers is free.

The costs for sellers are as follows:

  • £10 per car
  • £15 per car & trailer
  • £15 per van
  • £20 per box van

Stall holders can turn up from 6am while buyers are advised to turn up from 7:30am.
