THE cobbles of Blackburn Boulevard reflecting the town’s Christmas lights in 1938.
On the left you can make out the Queen Victoria statue in the cathedral grounds rising ghost-like above the illuminated shelters and on the right is the former Northern Daily Telegraph building.
This atmospheric photo is even more poignant when you consider that in less than a year the world would be at war and it would be another seven years before the Christmas lights would shine brightly again.
