PROPOSALS to redraw the East Lancashire political map for General Elections have been welcomed by Hyndburn Council leader Cllr Miles Parkinson.
Under the Boundary Commission plans Hyndburn would gain three wards from Ribble Valley and lose Haslingden.
Cllr Parkinson has recommended to the borough’s Full Council meeting on Thursday: “The council supports the proposal for keeping Hyndburn in one parliamentary constituency area and Hyndburn for the name of the constituency.
“We understand there maybe differing views regarding which additional wards make up electorate numbers within the seat.”
The proposal has angered Ribble Valley Conservative politicians.
