A NAIL salon owner is excited to welcome customers with a fresh new look after a flood left the salon needing repairs.

Charli Jepson found her salon - Charli and the Beauty Factory in Richmond Terrace, Blackburn - had flooded just before it was due to open on April 12.

The re-opening still went ahead but was confined to one room as work began to restore and revamp the rest of the rooms.

Walls in the beauty room were wet through while the floors lifted, and doors wouldn’t close.

Mrs Jepson said: “My sister-in-law was walking past when she went to check her own salon and called me to tell me about it.

“A pipe had burst so there was water everywhere.”

The Glitterbels head of education took the chance to turn the salon into a Glitterbels theme.

Glitterbels is a prestigious gel polish range by Annabel and provides all the products for nails.

She said: “I knew I wanted their special desks and the girls asked me to get them too, but I just thought they wouldn’t match the salon unless I changed everything.

“Everything now is exclusively Glitterbels themed and after the flood I just thought it was time to do it.

“I love this new look and I get a very similar experience when I am at the Glitterbels HQ in Newcastle so I love walking into my shop and seeing how pretty it is.

Mrs Jepson has been working as a teacher for the last eight years and alongside running her salon and teaching, also gets the opportunity to work at the London and Paris fashion shows.

She also won Educator of the year for Scratch Stars in 2018.

She said: “Because of Covid, we did the last Paris Fashion Show just before the lockdown was announced so we haven’t done anything since then.

“I am a team member assisting Marian Newman with the nails backstage. I met her at an event years ago and she contacted me soon after with work.”

Mrs Jepson has reached the heights in her career and is now focussing on educating the next generation in nail art and techniques using Glitterbels.

She said: “I cannot tell you how much I love my job and I feel the place I am in now, this is what I wanted to do.”

The salon is also home to freelance nail technician Jess Swinburne, whose videos are going viral on social media platform Tiktok.

It is also home to Jen Padbury, Chantelle Baldwin, Storme Hargreves, Emily Doonan and Michelle Goodwin.
