Over £4,000 has been raised for a three-year-old girl to help pay for intensive therapy in America.

The fundraiser for Valencia Kelly, from Salford, will see friends Karen Varey and Debbie Nolan, from Colne, attempt to ride 200 miles around Cornwall on July 14.

Valencia was born unable to breathe for herself and after tests, it was discovered that she had severe Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy.

She came out of hospital after just 12 weeks however as she got older, her mother Kelly Bradley noticed that Valencia was not developing at the correct stages.

She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, which affects her limbs, meaning she struggles to sit unaided, or walk and crawl.

Valencia is nonverbal and has severe muscle stiffness and uncontrolled epilepsy and is registered as blind.

After Kelly put a post on social media about the price of a buggy for her daughter, Debbie got in touch with her to organise a fundraiser.

Although Kelly was opposed originally, she agreed but decided to use any money earned from the fundraiser to take Valencia to America for therapy, which the family hopes will help her achieve some independence and gain new skills.

Kelly said: "A buggy is helpful for Valencia but I would rather carry her and use the £6,500 for therapy.

"The money has absolutely flown in over the past four days.

"Money can't buy happiness but if it can help Valencia achieve more than she can now then that is fantastic."

Currently the family have been paying for weekly physiotherapy sessions to help with Valencia's muscles getting stiffer, functionality and learn more skills however this is not available on the NHS.
