A RAVE that police and health officials had feared over the weekend did not take place after officers were stationed around the site.
Officers from North West 4x4 Response and Chorley Special Constabulary as well as officials from United Utilities and Rivington Heritage Trust were all placed around Rivington and Anglezarke over the weekend.
However, ultimately the event they were concerned about, which could have damaged the countryside and have caused an increase in coronavirus infections, did not occur.
A police spokesperson said: "Fortunately there was no rave in Rivington this weekend as we first thought.
"Credit to the staff and volunteers that work so closely with Chorley Police."
They added: "We work closely together to help keep our countryside beautiful."
