A FORMER charity shop has been converted into a new £60,000 dessert parlour in Blackburn.

Sugamore has launched on Whalley New Road in Brownhill and will be offering a range of desserts and drinks.

The business, which has created eight new roles locally, was due to open in March but the launch was delayed due to the lockdown and restrictions.

A spokesperson said: “We were hoping to open in the spring but then had to put things back. We are glad now to be finally open and are delighted with the response so far from the local community.

“A lot of people have been visiting since the weekend.”

“It was great to be putting something back into the town and creating some job opportunities for people in the area.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

Sugamore will offer up a combination of shakes, Dutch pancakes, nachos and Fredericks ice cream.

The shop, which is located on the stretch of shops near the Mazda Garage in Brownhill, has been completely renovated inside and out. There is no seating inside with meals available for takeout and delivery only.

The new brand has been launched by Blackburn-based entrepreneurs who said they would be launching new branches elsewhere in the future.

The spokesperson added: “It is a good location for us and we aim to cater for the customers living in the Ribchester and Brownhill areas as well as Roe Lee.

“There was no dessert parlour in the area and after speaking to local people the response has been really positive, people are really appreciative we have finally opened up.”

“The brand has been developed in Blackburn and we feel we are bringing something new to the town.

“Unlike other dessert parlours that have opened in recent years Sugamore is not a franchise.

“Hopefully, soon we can announce the opening of the second Sugamore branch in a nearby town or city. But for now we are overwhelmed by the love and good wishes shown to us by our customers and we look forward to serving them a Sugamore experience they can truly remember.”
